On Saturday night, the State Bar of California inducted plaintiffs lawyer Mary Alexander into its trial lawyer hall of fame. Since 1994 24 other trial lawyers have received the honor, including Joseph Cotchett, Edith Matthai, Cristina Arguedas and James Brosnahan. In 25 years of practice Alexander has secured several major personal injury verdicts, including $45 million to a San Mateo car crash victim and $13 million to a cyclist injured in Yosemite park. She’s also served as the president of the American Association for Justice and other trial lawyers’ organizations. Her three-woman personal injury firm, based in San Francisco, currently represents a woman whose family died in the San Bruno PG&E pipeline explosion. The Recorder caught up with her Monday to talk about her career.
