Cal. Sup. Ct.
S187587

The California Supreme Court affirmed a judgment. The court held that an initial adjudication of dependency based on a parent’s or guardian’s neglect leading to the death of another child requires only evidence of ordinary negligence and not evidence of guilt for criminal negligence. The court held further that such an initial adjudication requires no evidence of a “current risk” of harm to children remaining in the parent’s or guardian’s care.
