SAN FRANCISCO — It’s not clear whether John Quinn’s press release dustup has caused any real damage for Samsung in its ongoing patent trial with Apple. But opposing counsel are making the most of it.

Lawyers for Apple Inc. on Thursday asked U.S. District Judge Lucy Koh to rule that rival smartphone maker Samsung Electronics infringed the iPhone’s design patents as a sanction for pointing the press to evidence excluded during their patent trial.
