SACRAMENTO The number of opinions issued by the California Supreme Court jumped by almost 13 percent in the statistical year ending Aug. 31, an increase linked to the appointment of Justice Goodwin Liu last summer.
Liu joined the high court on Aug. 31, 2011, filling a vacancy created when Justice Carlos Moreno retired six months earlier. During Liu’s first year on the bench, the court issued 97 opinions, up from 86 the prior year, according to annual statistics released Thursday by the Administrative Office of the Courts.
