SACRAMENTO Dec. 3 will mark the end of an era at the state Capitol. That’s the day when dozens of newly elected legislators will be sworn into office and the state Senate will say goodbye to its last remaining Republican lawyer-legislator.
Senator Thomas “Tom” Harman, a Huntington Beach attorney, is termed out after serving six years in the upper house. His departure brings to an end a long line of GOP attorneys many of them Orange County-based who capped their legislative careers in the state Senate or, more often, used the office to launch new political endeavors.
