SAN FRANCISCO — A privacy suit filed by California attorney general Kamala Harris against Delta Air Lines may herald an onslaught of similar suits against companies that make mobile phone applications but don’t provide customers with information on how their private data is being collected or used.

In People v. Delta Air Lines, 526741, filed Thursday in San Francisco Superior Court, Harris alleges that Delta’s “Fly Delta” app, which helps travelers manage air travel, does not have a privacy policy or information available on what data is being collected from users. One feature of the app allows users to take photographs and save geo-location data of where they parked their cars at the airport.
