The court of appeals affirmed a district court judgment in part and reversed in part. The court held that a defendant was liable for contributory copyright infringement where his peer-to-peer file-sharing torrent websites induced others to download infringing copies of copyrighted works such as box office movies. The court held further that the defendant’s activities did not enjoy safe harbor protection under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act.
