SAN FRANCISCO — Carmen Chang, a corporate rainmaker who has been hailed as the "Larry Sonsini of China," is leaving the law firm fold.

A year after jumping from Wilson Sonsini to work for both Covington & Burling and New Enterprise Associates, Chang said she is parting ways with Covington so she can be at the venture capital firm full time. She added that she is taking on a position of greater responsibility at NEA, which will be announced in the coming weeks. Chang said she is eager to focus on building companies, the part of her practice that’s intrigued her the most.
