SAN FRANCISCO Jones Day has nabbed Fred Alvarez, who led the employment law litigation practice at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, to help establish its own practice in Silicon Valley.
Alvarez, who served as assistant secretary of labor for the U.S. Department of Labor and commissioner of the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission in the 1980s before entering private practice, brings the expertise that growing companies in the Valley need, said Tharan "Greg" Lanier, partner in charge of Jones Day’s Palo Alto office. His credentials will also prove helpful to the firm, which hired its first labor and employment lawyers in the Valley this year, Lanier added.
