SAN FRANCISCO — Following nine days of deliberations and nearly two months of trial, an Oakland jury on Friday awarded almost $2.8 million to five workers laid off after management of the Lawrence Livermore nuclear weapons lab was privatized.

"We won," said plaintiffs attorney Gary Gwilliam of Gwilliam, Ivary, Chiosso, Cavalli & Brewer. "Right now, we’re very pleased with the verdict."
