Former California Supreme Court Justice William P. Clark, an influential adviser to Ronald Reagan, died Saturday at his home near Paso Robles after a battle with Parkinson's disease. He was 81.

"Judge Clark was a decent, caring and loyal leader of the highest order," said John Murphy, a staff attorney for California Supreme Court Justice Joyce Kennard who worked with Clark at the Supreme Court and in the Reagan administration. "He was both kind and strong."
