SAN FRANCISCO — Littler Mendelson has pocketed work defending Apple Inc. in a federal wage-and-hour class action over its bag-check policy for retail store employees.

San Diego-based shareholder Julie Dunne, San Jose-based shareholder Todd Boyer and San Jose-based associates Karin Cogbill and Nicolas Kelsey — all Littler lawyers — entered appearances for the technology giant Thursday in Frlekin v. Apple, 13-3451. Name plaintiffs Amanda Frlekin and Dean Pelle, both former Apple employees, accuse the company of depriving retail store workers of wages by requiring them to undergo off-the-clock bag searches before taking breaks and ending their shifts. The policy violates the Fair Labor Standards Act as well as New York and California state laws, according to the complaint, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California on July 25.
