SAN FRANCISCO — Bay Area attorneys from Baker & McKenzie and Cooley have been tapped as advisers in Maxim Integrated Products Inc.'s acquisition of Volterra Semiconductor.

Maxim, which is headquartered in San Jose and manufactures mixed-signal semiconductor products, announced Thursday that it had agreed to acquire Fremont's Volterra for approximately $605 million. Volterra develops chips with power management applications and targets the enterprise and communications sectors.
