SACRAMENTO — Alex Macgillivray, Twitter’s first in-house lawyer, announced online Friday that he is stepping down as the social media giant’s general counsel to engage “my various internet passions from new and different perspectives.”
Macgillivray wrote on Twitter — naturally — and on his blog, bricoleur.org, that Vijaya Gadde will take over his general counsel duties. Gadde, who has managed Twitter’s corporate and international legal work, had already changed her Twitter profile Friday morning to identify herself as the company’s top lawyer.
