SACRAMENTO — A State Bar Court judge has recommended the disbarment of a Peninsula attorney accused of bilking an elderly man out of $3.5 million.

Wade Robertson of Stanford manipulated and schemed against William Cartinhour Jr., persuading the then-77-year-old Maryland resident in 2004 to invest $2 million in a class action with promises of lucrative returns, State Bar Court Judge Lucy Armendariz wrote. But Robertson loaned most of Cartinhour's money to himself and then lost it in investments that went south, bar prosecutors said.
