SAN FRANCISCO­— Like many lawyers in her position, Alica Del Valle, global IP counsel at Salesforce.com, expects outside counsel to be in sync with her team.

For starters, that means firm lawyers don’t use email to communicate with in-house attorneys, but Chatter, the enterprise software company’s social network, said Del Valle on Friday at Golden Gate University School of Law’s IP Law and Policy Conference.
