Christine Helwick, former general counsel and secretary for the California State University system has joined Hirschfeld Kraemer as of counsel in the firm’s higher education law practice. Helwick, who spent 17 years with the California State University system, was previously managing university counsel for the University of California system. Helwick is a 1973 graduate of the UC-Hastings College of the Law.
O’Melveny & Myers partner Luann Simmons has been named managing partner of the firm’s San Francisco office. Simmons, an IP litigator recently recognized as one of The Recorder’s Women Leaders in Tech Law, succeeds Michael Tubach, who served as managing partner for five years. Simmons, also a member of the firm’s policy committee, received her J.D. from Loyola Law School.
