SACRAMENTO — A federal judge on Monday sentenced former San Ramon divorce attorney Mary Nolan to two years in prison for tax evasion and illegal wiretapping, according to media accounts.

The two-year sentence fell short of the 33 months prosecutors had sought for Nolan’s role in eavesdropping on clients’ husbands and setting up the men for driving-under-the-influence arrests. Nolan’s attorneys, Cris Arguedas and Ted Cassman, argued for a reduced sentence, citing the defendant’s childhood in a dysfunctional family, her agreement to pay $468,918 in restitution before sentencing and her relinquishment of her law license.
