SAN FRANCISCO — Google is pushing back against ContentGuard Holdings Inc., a digital rights management subsidiary of intellectual property firm Pendrell.
In a 23-page complaint filed last week in the Northern District Court of California, Google asked for a declaratory judgment that it doesn’t directly or indirectly infringe nine patents held by Plano, Tex.-based ContentGuard. ContentGuard has asserted these patents against device makers that use Google Play Books, Google Play Movies and Google Play Music apps.
