Adidas, the German sports shoe, apparel and equipment giant behind the miCoach interactive fitness tracker, is accusing Baltimore-based Under Armour of infringing 10 of Adidas’ patents with certain Armour39 and MapMyFitness products.
An Adidas spokeswoman told Bloomberg Businessweek the company is “moving forward to protect digital technologies core to our miCoach product.” Under Armour, which acquired the MapMyFitness platform in November for $150 million, responded in a statement that its digital fitness product “has been recognized as a pioneer in this category. We are aware of the lawsuit and are in the process of reviewing the complaint.”
