SAN FRANCISCO — A Tyler, Texas.-based patent holder filed 20 suits in the Eastern District of Texas on Monday against a host of online retailers, including websites Ancestry.com, Etsy and 1-800-Flowers.

Qommerce Systems, represented by the Tadlock Law Firm, accuses the companies of infringing its patented technology for running an online store. The patent, issued in April 2008 to Berkeley, Calif.-based ecommerce firm Kagi Corp., details a system that uses both HTML and XML coding languages to process data entered by customers.
