SACRAMENTO – Attorneys general from 41 states and Guam urged U.S. senators on Monday to act on legislation aimed at cracking down on so-called patent trolls. California Attorney General Kamala Harris was not among the signatories.

In a letter to the chairmen and ranking members of the Senate Judiciary and Commerce committees, the attorneys general said they are “encouraged” by patent bills pending in both houses of Congress. But they also asked for assurances that states will retain power to pursue bad actors.
