The attorneys who lead the legal departments of Twitter Inc., Facebook Inc., Hewlett-Packard Co. and Cisco Systems Inc. said Thursday at a Stanford Law School panel that when it comes to hiring, they’re looking for judgment, leadership, management skills and a passion for the company.

“We’re certainly looking for the best and the brightest, but we’re looking for people who have the personality, the communication skills,” said John Schultz, general counsel for Palo Alto-based Hewlett-Packard. “Someone who can sit across from me and engage with me.”
