SACRAMENTO — Drivers for ride-sharing companies such as Lyft and Uber would have to be covered by commercial insurance from the time they log on to provide service to the time they log off, under legislation approved Monday by an Assembly policy committee.
Assembly Bill 2293 would require that the commercial policy provide the primary coverage for the driver and not just serve as a supplement to whatever personal insurance he or she has.
