SACRAMENTO — Marvin Baxter, the Fresno County native who helped shape California’s judiciary over four decades—both on and off the bench—announced Wednesday that he will retire from the state Supreme Court when his second term ends on Jan. 4.
The 74-year-old associate justice will have served 24 years on the high court when he steps down.
