SAN FRANCISCO — A whistleblower claim filed against San Francisco City Attorney Dennis Herrera by his former deputy has been denied after review by the Santa Clara County counsel’s office, according to a statement from Herrera’s office.

Joanne Hoeper, Herrera’s former chief trial deputy who worked in the office for 20 years, had accused Herrera of sidelining and then removing her to derail an investigation into $19 million in city payouts. She claimed she found signs of corruption in the city’s payments to replace sewer lines, many of them privately owned.
