SAN FRANCISCO — Gov. Jerry Brown has appointed Stanford law professor Mariano-Florentino Cuéllar to serve as an associate justice on the California Supreme Court.
Cuéllar, 41, has taught administrative, criminal and international law and directs the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies at Stanford University. He was co-chair of the Obama-Biden transition team’s working group on immigration policy and served as a special assistant on the White House Domestic Policy Council from 2009 to 2010.
