SACRAMENTO – Gov. Jerry Brown on Monday signed legislation requiring all smartphones sold in California to come with kill switches.
The bill, sponsored by San Francisco District Attorney George Gascon, is an attempt to curb the theft of mobile phones. More than two-thirds of robberies in San Francisco involve the taking of smartphones, according to authorities.
