Latham’s venture capital lawyers had a busy year advising clients laying down bets on tomorrow’s economy. One client, Formation 8, called on Latham lawyers to assist with investments in: Illumio, a $34 million preferred stock financing; Kidaptive, $10.1 million in series B funding; Oculus VR, for $75 million in series B funding; and Radius Intelligence, a $13 million preferred stock financing.

And the practice isn’t limited to investments in portfolio companies. The firm advised GRP Partners, a Los Angeles-area venture capital firm, in its most recent $200 million fund launch and rebranding to become Upfront Ventures. GRP made an entire set of major announcements: it changed its name, closed its most recent venture/growth fund and moved to new offices in Santa Monica. Latham lawyers advised on the fundraising and related structuring matters.
