SACRAMENTO — California’s 2014 legislative session ended quietly in the wee hours of Aug. 30, almost 48 hours before the constitutional deadline.

With the economy improving and big issues such as the water bond, ride-sharing regulations and a film industry tax credit already settled, the final hours didn’t feature the mad-scrambling drama of past years, unless you count the sad injury sustained by one historic Capitol statue.
