SAN FRANCISCO — A Santa Clara County judge has removed a team of Paul Hastings attorneys from an international trade secrets case, finding the firm “concurrently represents two parties with conflicting interests.”
Ruling Friday, Judge Peter Kirwan concluded that Paul Hastings’ defense of South Korea-based SK Hynix Inc. in a suit filed by SanDisk Corp. creates a conflict with the firm’s ongoing representation of Toshiba Corp. Though not a party in the litigation, Toshiba co-owns with SanDisk many of the trade secrets at issue.
