The court of appeals affirmed a district court judgment of dismissal. The court held that a federal civil rights plaintiff’s amended complaints did not relate back to her original complaint under state or federal law, and thus were not timely filed as to newly-added defendants, where the plaintiff knew the names or identities of the additional defendants when she filed her original suit, and none of the additional defendants knew or should have known that the suit would have been brought against them but for her mistake.
