SAN FRANCISCO — Partners in Silicon Valley are the highest-paid in the nation, with partners in the region reporting an average total compensation of $1.167 million in 2013, according to a biennial survey of partner compensation released by recruiting firm Major, Lindsey & Africa. That’s about $60,000 higher than the average in New York.

Helping Silicon Valley edge out New York is the high demand for corporate and IP partners in the region and the lingering effects of the financial downturn seen around Wall Street. “It’s possible that as the capital markets and the financial markets recover, New York partner compensations will surpass Silicon Valley compensation,” noted Natasha Innocenti, a partner at Major, Lindsey & Africa.
