SAN FRANCISCO — Continuing a growth spurt begun last week, Manatt, Phelps & Phillips has added four intellectual property lawyers in Southern California. The leader of Steptoe & Johnson’s statewide trademark transactional practice, Michelle Cooke, has come over as a partner, while the arrival of three new lawyers from Dickstein Shapiro completes Manatt’s acquisition of a six-lawyer group.Cooke said she was attracted to Manatt’s deep entertainment and digital media practices.

“Ninety-eight percent of my clients all came with me, and are already here,” Cooke said. This includes Los Angeles television station KCET and Universal Studios. While Universal was already a Manatt client for other practices including IP litigation, Cooke has brought Universal’s trademark work to her new firm.
