SAN FRANCISCO — With plenty of election-season fights coming down to the wire, here’s one that’s safe to call.

Choose Energy Inc., which runs the energy price comparison website chooseenergy.com, lost out on a bid to get an oil and gas industry trade group to stop using the “Choose Energy” slogan in its pro-fossil fuel campaign season publicity blitz. The San Francisco-based company, which serves as a sort of broker for consumers in deregulated energy markets, was also seeking to block the American Petroleum Institute from using the chooseenergy.org domain name.
