SAN FRANCISCO — Neither cloud storage company Bitcasa Inc. nor an aggrieved customer walked away happy from a hearing Wednesday before U.S. District Judge William Alsup.
Bitcasa wants to end its infinite data storage plans and informed customers of the change roughly four weeks ago. Shawn Romack and his lawyers at Lieff Cabraser Heimann & Bernstein say the shift amounts to a bait-and-switch and could jeopardize his 7.7. terabytes of data—the equivalent of 2.7 million high-resolution photographs.
