SACRAMENTO — The state Assembly will launch a new standing committee on privacy and consumer protection when the Legislature convenes for the 2015-2016 session, a spokesman for Speaker Toni Atkins confirmed.

The committee's size, jurisdiction and even its membership have not yet been determined, said Will Shuck, Atkins' communications director. But the panel is expected to field a broad range of bills dealing with everything from medical privacy to accurate weights and measures.
