SAN FRANCISCO — A potential class of Zipcar Inc. drivers has received the green light to proceed with claims that they were unfairly charged for returning their cars late.
Zipcar, which lets users book short-term car rentals online or through a smartphone app, charges $50 an hour for a late return. Plaintiffs claim the late fee is unfair and doesn’t reflect the damage caused to Zipcar, which violates California’s Consumer Legal Remedies Act and Unfair Competition Law.
