SAN FRANCISCO — Uber Technologies Inc. has tapped Durie Tangri to defend the company, its founders and investors against allegations they ripped off the concept of using mobile technology to link drivers and passengers.

It’s the first time Uber has worked with Durie Tangri, an intellectual property-centered litigation boutique. The first maneuver by lawyers Ragesh Tangri and Joshua Lerner was to remove the state suit to U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, arguing the dispute involves copyright determinations that fall exclusively under federal jurisdiction.
