SAN FRANCISCO — As she prepares to leave office, U.S. Attorney Melinda Haag said in an interview Wednesday that her successor should be ready to handle “cutting edge” cases dealing with cybersecurity, trade secrets theft and digital currency.

Prosecutors in the Northern District of California are well positioned to handle such cases since the region encompasses Silicon Valley. “The evidence is often here, as are the witnesses,” Haag said.
