SAN FRANCISCO — After 45 years on the bench, U.S. District Senior Judge Samuel Conti of the Northern District of California will retire at the end of October.
Conti, the longest serving judge in the district’s history, was appointed to the federal bench by President Richard Nixon in 1970. He has continued to handle cases since assuming senior status in 1987.
