SAN FRANCISCO — Chairman-elect David Dekker will take over leadership of Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman when James Rishwain’s 10-year term as chair ends in January 2017. Taking the helm of a firm that has shed lawyers over the past decade, Dekker has one thing on his mind: growth.
Dekker, a Washington, D.C.-based litigator who joined Pillsbury as a lateral partner in March 2011, talked with The Recorder Tuesday about the firm’s plans and the role he expects to play. He wouldn’t discuss the ongoing merger discussions with New York-based Chadbourne & Parke, but said he is involved in any pending talks.
