SAN FRANCISCO — SolarCity Corp. sued Vivint Solar Inc. on Wednesday, accusing the rival company of poaching SolarCity employees and customers.

SolarCity claims employees who defected to Vivint this summer brought with them confidential customer information that Vivint used to lure away SolarCity customers. After the group of five employees left, SolarCity saw an unusually high number of customer cancellations in their former accounts, according to the complaint filed in San Mateo County Superior Court by a Nixon Peabody team.
