SACRAMENTO — The regular 2015 legislative session came to a close on Oct. 11 when the governor finished signing 808 bills and vetoing another 133. Here’s a look at some of the interests who fared well this year, as well as those who will be looking for better results in 2016.
WINNERS
Drones: Acting as the drone industry’s personal missile defense shield, Gov. Jerry Brown shot down almost every legislative attempt to regulate unmanned aircraft. Legislation barring drones from flying up to 350 feet over private property was an easy kill for the governor; drone enthusiasts, TechNet and the California Chamber of Commerce all fought the bill as an unwieldy invitation to litigation.
