SAN FRANCISCO — A lawyer facing malicious-prosecution claims from Facebook Inc. is trying to turn the tables on the company, accusing founder Mark Zuckerberg of smearing his reputation.

Solo practitioner Paul Argentieri represented New York businessman Paul Ceglia in a 2010 suit that claimed Zuckerberg owed Ceglia an 84 percent ownership stake in Facebook. The suit crashed and burned spectacularly after a New York judge determined the contract at the heart of the dispute was forged. Facebook followed up with a malicious-prosecution suit against Argentieri and lawyers from DLA Piper and Milberg, and Ceglia was charged with fabricating and destroying evidence. Ceglia has since gone missing.
