SAN FRANCISCO — Upping the ante in a bitter legal clash, Jawbone has accused rival Fitbit Inc. of using “any means necessary” to protect an illegal monopoly over the fitness tracker industry.

In court papers filed Friday, Jawbone’s lawyers accuse Fitbit of filing meritless lawsuits, stealing Jawbone trade secrets and poaching its employees as part of a campaign to secure the dominant position in the growing wearables market.
