Plaintiffs firm Cotchett, Pitre & McCarthy is preparing to sue the city of Milpitas on behalf of former city attorney Michael Ogaz, who claims he was fired in retaliation for investigating an internal human resources complaint.

Ogaz, who was fired in July after seven years working for the city, says his termination came after he began looking into a complaint against City Manager Thomas Williams. Ogaz claims Williams explicitly threatened him, saying “I’m going to get you Mike” during a meeting a month before Ogaz’s termination. Ogaz responded by asking “are you saying you’re going to retaliate against me?” and Williams answered “yes, you bet,” according to the claims.
