SACRAMENTO — Hit with lurid allegations of sexual and emotional abuse by his ex-lover, Silicon Valley venture capitalist Michael Goguen hit back Monday with a cross-complaint that alleges he was extorted into signing an agreement that would pay her $40 million.
In documents filed Monday in San Mateo County Superior Court by his lawyers at Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan, Goguen denied accusations by former mistress Amber Baptiste that he subjected her to 13 years of maltreatment that left her with a sexually transmitted disease and emotional scars. Instead, the Sequoia Capital partner said he was the real victim of an obsessed and jealous woman who would not leave him alone.
