If patent holders thought they were going to get relief from the U.S. Supreme Court on inter partes review, they’d better start thinking again.

Hearing an appeal of the first final written decision issued by the Patent Trial and Appeal Board in an inter parties review (IPR), the justices sounded inclined to give the agency a wide berth, just as the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit has to date.
