In May 2015, Healdsburg Democrat Sen. Mike McGuire was pushing legislation to require Airbnb Inc. and other short-term rental platforms to tell cities and counties who was offering rooms through their sites, how much they were charging and how many nights they’re occupied. The bill, aimed at ensuring hosts pay appropriate taxes and comply with local ordinances, died amid significant opposition from the platforms.
